Can You Make Money as an NSFW AI Art?

You can make money as an AI artist. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to the game or if you already have a following, NSFW AI art will earn you cash. It’s just a matter of figuring out the best strategy for you. What are you good at? Do you want something passive or are you willing to hunt for work? Do you have a lot of assets ready to sell or do you only create if there’s a buyer waiting at the other side?

The following will outline the many different ways an NSFW AI artist can earn money from their creations.

The Problem with AI Art

As AI image generators have improved it’s been easier for non-technical and non-artistic people to create things that they could only imagine. Now the floodgates have opened for literally anyone to have a go at making art, even when it wasn’t a thought six months ago.

Making money as an artist requires hard work. It’s that simple. People need to like what you produce. They need to like you. And they need to care enough to pay money to have it for themselves. Most artists are amateurs. They do it on the side. They love it. They get excited when someone is willing to part with their cash to have some of what you created, because they appreciate the effort that went into it.

It’s a little different with AI art. While it may still be new and evolving, there’s a sense that an AI artist doesn’t deserve the title of “artist” at all, because even if they have the creative part down, they lack the skills to make their ideas come to life. They’re looked down upon by other artists, art consumers and the general public, because they wouldn’t have any “art” if it wasn’t for the actual artists.

I would argue that there’s a difference on the NSFW side of AI art. Whereas I can’t see why anyone would knowingly pay for random abstract art creations of nature and stuff made by AI, I know exactly why they would pay for dirty pics of their favorite fetish.

Deepfake NSFW Art

Deepfake porn is a problem. People love the idea of being able to obtain nudes of their favorite celebrities, hot friends or crushes. But if it isn’t illegal to make them where you are right now, expect that to change soon. If you had a business idea based on making anything like this, cancel all of your plans. There’s a place for making deepfake nudes, but that relies on consent and trust.

The Best Ways to Make Money with NSFW AI Art

Self-Publishing with KDP

By far I believe that the most reliable way to monetize your nude AI art is with KDP. It’s Amazon’s own book publishing platform and it allows you to make, publish and distribute your own creative works. That stretches beyond just written books. You can also use it for photobooks.

The best thing about it is that you don’t just earn from people buying your books; Amazon pays every time a single page of your book gets read. It means the more of your books that they like, the more you can earn.

In 2023 I made a killing from ebooks on Amazon. I tried physicals, but ephotobooks were the area where I managed to rake in big earnings from simple AI artwork books. They didn’t take long to make. They didn’t require creative prompts. I just focused on making NSFW art.

Unfortunately my time as a KDP publisher got cut massively short when I breached the rules and published something that got me banned. I might not be active there any more, but I still have a big library of ebooks that were accepted on the platform and you can buy to: 1. Steal my winning, royalty-earning formula 2. Start your own passive income empire.

Commissions

If someone likes your artistic style or concepts, there’s a chance they might ask you to make something especially for them. Personalized or custom commissions can be a great way to make your art pay. Make sure your creations are presented in some sort of portfolio, whether it’s on Deviant Art, X or Instagram, and advertise your ability to make someone’s fantasies a reality.

Your first commission might be something simple. Someone may like a post you shared, but ask for the boobs to be bigger, or for the model to show a little more skin. There’s a price to every request, so charge for it. Once you know how to prompt and you can pretty much guarantee that any idea you can be translated into artwork, you’re ready to start doing commissions.

Commissions come in so many forms. For example I have been asked to make the following:

  • Deepfakes for OnlyFans creators
  • Picture sets for a particular niche
  • AI influencers
  • Social media assets
  • Goon fuel

And that’s just me. Other NSFW AI artists will have completely different experiences, such as doing gig work.

Subscriptions

Linked to commissions, a subscription-based model gives your fans the ability to access exclusive content hidden behind a paywall. Once you get into a regular routine of posting high quality artwork, and people seem to enjoy it, consider what people might want to pay to see more of.

A certain character may be more difficult to prompt, so it makes sense to charge for pics of them. You might censor some of the images and demand cash for an all-access pass. Straight up – tell your followers the only way to get full nudity is with a subscription. Don’t keep posting for free when your fans would literally pay for more.

Patreon and DeviantArt are the best places to host your NSFW AI art subscriptions.

YouTube

Just because AI video (especially NSFW AI video) isn’t amazing yet doesn’t mean that there isn’t a place for your artwork on video platforms. Image-based videos still make a killing on YouTube. You obviously know that you can’t be too explicit on there, but there are some creative ways to show your hot creations without getting your content flagged.

We all know that YouTube pays out based on video views. Just be aware you have to meet certain criteria first. Once your channel has got a certain number of subscribers and views, your content can be monetized. Work towards that point and you could start to earn some decent monthly sums from simple slideshows, stories, game-style videos or whatever else you come up with.

If YouTube’s eligibility criteria seems like a distant dream, you can always put these videos on Rumble instead to get earning from your very first video.

While we’re on the subject of video platforms that pay per view, be aware that Pornhub and xHamster are not good places for your AI creations. Both platforms reject AI art that looks too realistic and, even if it isn’t realistic, both refuse to pay out on videos that don’t feature real people.

Prompts

So many people love the idea of being an AI artist but don’t really know how to use the tools. The prompts are complicated and they haven’t really got the time to experiment to figure out what works. You did all the hard work already, so now it’s time to give away the secrets. Sell your prompts.

Prompts are the text inputs required to generate an AI art creation. A simple one like “a realistic photo of a sexy 27yo Latina on the beach wearing blue bikini” is an example of a basic one. A prompt with value might tap into a certain photography style, pose or concept that a beginner wouldn’t know how to achieve.

As of right now on Midjourney V6, you can make nudes. Not everyone knows how to. Not many people are willing to share that they can. But because that tool makes the most diverse and realistic photo-like images in the game, it’s valuable to know how to prompt nudes with it. If you have the secret, sell it.

There are specialist prompt-selling sites worth checking out and you can also sell them on places like Gumroad and Etsy.

Print on demand (POD) is the simplest way to sell product based on your art. You create the design, add it to a t-shirt, mug, sticker or card and one of a list of companies will ship it off to the customer. No manufacturing costs. No risk. You can start today.

The people that perform best at POD understand their niche well and can illustrate that with slick designs and clever slogans. If you don’t think you have those qualities, just slap a big tits girls on a t-shirt and see if anyone wants to cop it.

The best POD options are Merch by Amazon, Redbubble and TeePublic, but there’s a whole list of other sites that allow you to upload your designs and will print and ship out products as and when you receive orders. Already have an existing platform? Make a shop with Shopify or WordPress and take advantage of that audience.
